Candies For Women

Candies For Women

NOTES (as listed on fragrancenet.com): citrus and lavender, with floral middle notes of peony and ylang-ylang.

Candies perfume has always intrigued me, since their trendily young, sexy ad campaign years ago, which I remembered vividly when I decided to add this mini to my online shopping cart recently. From the notes, the marketing, the bottle, and some of the other reviews I had read, I was expecting something ultra-feminine, sexy, fun, young, and either very floral or fruity smelling.

CLASSIFICATION: spicy, masculine

AGE GROUP: mature

Escada Into The Blue
Escada Into The Blue

Escada Into The Blue

NOTES (as listed on sephora.com): crumpled green leaves, fresh herbs, tagette, star fruit, peony, aquatic floral notes, water fruits, white cedar wood, musky cocktail, amber notes, wet woods

Escada and I usually get along pretty well, for the most part, so I wasn’t worried when I began to investigate the sample of Into The Blue that I had received. The scariest part of my experience was how powerful the spray was on the sample-sized vial.

CLASSIFICATION: slightly clean, slightly feminine

AGE GROUP: college / mature

SIMILAR SCENT(s): slightly reminiscent of Flower Princess (minus the flowery scent)

FORM: eau de parfum

Luscious Pink by Mariah Carey – Coming Soon

As reported by india-server.com, popcrunch.com, and highbridnation.com

Mariah Carey has recently announced details regarding the new perfume that she has been working on with Elizabeth Arden. The fragrance is set to be a flirty floral, with notes including the Tahitian Tiare flower, lily of the valley, pink peony, and white musk*.

Set to launch in August 2008, the bottle will be the same shape and design of her original fragrance (“M”), but this time with a girly, romantic hue of pink with a mother-of-pearlesque sheen in which blue and yellow will also be present. Interestingly enough, the bottle was not designed by Mariah – it was created by Jean Antretter, the senior design director at Elizabeth Arden.

Says Mariah, “Elizabeth Arden has been a fantastic partner and the end creation of Luscious Pink is beyond my expectatons. The response from my fans with my debut scent was overwhelming, and I can’t wait to see what happens with my second Luscious fragrance.”

Of the scent, Mariah explains that it is, “feminine, flirtatious and fun, and truly reflects where I am in my life now.”

Mariah will have some competition this August, as that is also when fellow songbird Jessica Simpson will release her debut perfume, Fancy, which is an altogether different scent (word has it that Fancy will be a floral-oriental fragrance, which can sometimes be a bit on the stronger/spicier side of scents).

Roxy Love

NOTES (as listed on sephora.com): green tea leaves, lime, yuzu, tangerine, petitgrain lime, grenade, peony, freesia, bahia orchid, floated wood accord, musk, cedarwood

Roxy Love

The summery colors of the bottle, along with the Roxy name, caused this impulse buy of mine. I had never read any reviews, and there was no tester, so I was in for a surprise (whether it was a good one or a bad one)!

CLASSIFICATION: unisex, watery

NOTES (as listed on sephora.com): Peony, Jasmine, Pink Pepper, Litchi, Pomegranate, Pineapple, Pink Musk, Seringa, White Tea, Sandalwood, Teakwood, Sensual Musk.

I purchased Gucci Envy Me after reading a few online reviews. I, like always, was on the quest to find a new perfume favorite, and everything I read about this fragrance seemed like it would be right up my alley. When I received it in the mail, however, I smelled it in the bottle, and disregarded it for several months. What was I thinking?

Versace Bright Crsytal
Versace Bright Crystal

Versace Bright Crystal

NOTES (as listed on sephora.com): iced accord, yuzu, pomegranate, peony, magnolia, lotus flower, acajou, vegetal amber, musk

I had heard of Versace Bright Crystal (and even had smelled it) before, but I must not have gotten a very good whiff, combined with that I didn’t get to smell it on my own skin (a co-worker brought it in, but I was already wearing perfume; I only got to smell it on other girls), because it didn’t leave a lasting impression. Upon receiving a sample of it a few days ago, I was eager to test it on myself. I was very pleasantly surprised!

Guess New

NOTES (as listed on fragrancenet.com): amber, freesia, tangerine, muguet, green apple, peach, peony, musk

I bought this on a whim, with a gift card that was going to expire. I wanted to smell it prior to purchase, as I hadn’t even so much as READ about it at that point, but there was no tester. Since I had to spend the gift card or lose it, I went ahead and got it. Quite the opposite of my Wrapped With Love purchase, Guess New went down in history as one of my best “uneducated” perfume purchases.

Moschino Funny!

I first came across Moschino Funny! on Nordstroms.com and instantly became interested in smelling it. Wherever I went, however (including Nordstrom’s), I was unable to find it. With my anticipation growing more and more, I finally ordered samples. My excitement quickly turned to fear as I opened the fateful vial…
